HR and employee relations (ER) teams can now better manage, track and report on Employment Tribunal (ET) cases to tackle rising caseloads via intuitive Software-as-a-Solution functionality endorsed by one of our largest customers, Entain plc.
Following a year which has seen businesses pivot, restructure and furlough staff, the Ministry of Justice released figures showing how single ET claims had increased by 18% between April-June 2020 – the highest level since 2012-13.
We also experienced an uplift in legal advisory support for Coronavirus-hit businesses. In March 2020 alone, our ESP Law team delivered more than 700 hours of employer-based advice – resulting in over a 30% uplift compared to March 2019.
With several sectors still in recovery mode – particularly the hospitality, retail and travel industries – we teamed up with FTSE 100 company, Entain plc, to develop sophisticated functionality that will make it easier and swifter to manage and track ET claims.
Via our market-leading, cloud-based ER case management system, MyHRCases, users can access a dedicated ET claims feature which calculates estimated and actual costs of open cases, awards and recommended settlements and the prospects of a successful defence as a percentage risk weighting.
In addition, HR and ER users will receive reminder emails of ‘milestone’ dates – that have been agreed with their dedicated legal advisory team – to ensure all case documentation is supplied by specific deadlines and case progress is kept on-track.
HR managers can also generate reports automatically, in one click, to help manage budgets and present the information back to the board in an easy-to-access format.
Speaking about the new functionality, Teresa Riley, our head of HR systems, explained: “We’re finding that now more than ever companies are having to deal with a lot more tribunal cases on top of their excessive workload as they deal with the Covid-19 impact.
“HR and ER professionals and their senior leadership teams are having to make key decisions quickly and without all the information they need. This new functionality provides vital insight for organisational leaders so that they can make informed choices swiftly and efficiently, and ultimately get a better handle on their ET claims.”
Commenting on the importance of reporting on ET claims accurately, Hugh Westlake, Entain’s ER business partner, said: “We quickly realised we needed savvy reporting functionality to make informed, commercial decisions, at the right times, on our tribunal cases.
“Now we have this level of insight at our fingertips, MyHRCases has greatly improved our ability to prove, in tangible terms, cost-savings to the business. Not to mention the ability to review our performance across the year and take learnings from that data.”
