The Challenge

Therefore, when Konica Minolta needed assistance with employment tribunal (ET) preparations, outsourcing and redundancy, it was vital to HR Operations Manager, Janice Thomas, that any legal expert would also understand and uphold the values and integrity of the global brand.

With over 1,000 employees and facing a period of significant change, the Company was looking for an employment law partner who could offer reliable and easy-to-digest commercial advice throughout a defining chapter in the firm’s history.

The Solution

Having received a promotional email showcasing the breadth of esphr’s legal expertise, as well as their innovative alternative business structure (ABS), and facing a period of significant change, Konica Minolta appointed esphr as it’s legal partner.

Advice is provided with a commercial focus and – most importantly – in layman’s terms, making conversation and guidance easy to understand and accessible by Konica Business Solutions’ entire HR function.

Since their appointment in 2017, esphr has proved to be an invaluable source of guidance during both employment tribunal preparation and Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations (TUPE).

In addition, esphr also provides consultation when required, while being on hand to advise – and act as a sounding board – when it comes to ad-hoc questions relating to day-to-day employee relations (ER) matters of varying sizes.

Furthermore, in some cases, the employment law specialist’s advice has enabled the Company to solve ER matters, avoiding subsequent claims.
