Mandatory gender pay gap reporting was introduced in 2017, meaning large employers, with 250 or more employees on a ‘snapshot’ date, are legally required to produce, and publish, an annual report on their gender pay gap data. Failure to do so can result in enforcement, reputational damage and adverse publicity.
The aim of requiring organisations to publish their gender pay gap data is to encourage them to identify gaps and set out an action plan to reduce those gaps for the future.
