However, with ambitious growth plans and shifting needs as the company expanded they needed a partner to help navigate the people challenges that arise around the demands of growth.

The Challenge

Symatrix continually evolves and has grown from a pure consultation and implementation practice to become an end-to-end HR solution provider. A recently-announced partnership gave the company the ability to work with a wider base of businesses.

At the same time, it has broadened out from implementation and consulting to also focus on managed services, systems support and outsourced payroll services. With such rapid expansion comes challenges regarding its people.

Through this period, Symatrix sought out a partner who could provide an HR solution that provided the level of in-depth and ongoing legal support that was appropriate for the challenges at the time and in the future.

The Solution

Nine years ago, then-Managing Director (now Chairman) Paul Gillott turned to esphr following a recommendation, and, after a consultation with the team at esphr, a package was put in place to meet Symatrix’s requirements.

As part of an annual package, esphr provides Symatrix with:

  • Online access to employment law and HR resources regularly updated by the in-house legal team
  • Employment tribunal case management and representation
  • Use of LiveHRDocs which stores and automatically updates key legal documentation such as contracts of employment and employee handbooks

Symatrix has now been with esphr for nine years and during the time working together, esphr has helped the company navigate the hurdles of an ambitious, growing business.

This included several restructures, the challenge of employee relations issues which inevitably arose with the period of rapid growth and a couple of challenging and lengthy employment tribunal claims.
